We are recruiting Driver Revier Volunteers, Road rescue operators and base radio operators

Driver Revier Volunteers help out at the Ourimbah Driver reviver area to serve tea and coffee and most long weekends and School Holidays to weary and tired drivers.

Base radio operators are responsible for all communication between Police, the public and members. This role requires taking phone calls from the Police radio room and from the public, activating the VRA pager system to notify the rescue trucks and members that they are needed, as well as advising the rescue trucks and members of details such as the location of the indicents. Base operators are required to communicate over the VRA radio network and record details of the rescue as it's carried out. Base operators will take the rescue base a few days a week on a roster system, have a radio and phone installed and be provided with all the training necessary to carry out the job.

Road rescue operators will be trained in all forms on land rescue. This includes cutting people free from their vehicle with the jaws of life after a serious accident, abseiling down a cliff to rescue someone who has fallen, climbing a ladder up a tree to free a stranded animal or even down a drain to rescue some ducklings. They will gain their state rescue board number and be supplied with a radio, pager, overalls and safty gear. Most rescue operators take anywhere from 3 months to 12 months to become a full on road rescue operator.
